A graduate of the Edinburgh University Law School, Allan Rooney is the owner of Allan J.P. Rooney, P.C. (www.allanrooneyesq.com), a boutique commercial law firm specializing in all aspects of corporate and business law. The firm represents domestic and international clients ranging from emerging small businesses to established multi-national corporations, as well as governments, educational institutions, and non-profit entities. Allan has been a board member of ScotBarNY since 2006. He is also President of the New York Association of Edinburgh University Alumni, and serves on the New York City Bar’s Corporate Law Committee.

Neil Oxford is a partner in Hughes Hubbard’s litigation department. His practice focuses on litigation, business disputes and professional liability. He has represented Deloitte, Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers in a broad range of civil litigation and regulatory matters, including securities fraud, malpractice and RICO issues. He is currently representing the Trustee for the liquidation of Lehman Brothers, Inc. in a dispute arising from the sale of the bankrupt broker-dealer in September 2008. He has also represented Merck in its defense of Vioxx and Fosamax product liability litigation.
Prior to joining Hughes Hubbard & Reed in 2001, he qualified as solicitor in Scotland and practiced commercial litigation at Maclay Murray & Spens LLP in Glasgow.

Balfour began his practice at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP and now works for Kirkland & Ellis LLP and concentrates his practice in the Capital Markets Group. Duncan began his legal career at the New York City Law Department. As an Assistant Corporation Counsel, Duncan defended New York City and was involved in multimillion-dollar real estate and construction law suits as well as civil rights, employment, and personal injury actions which received media coverage. Duncan received the 'Legal Rookie of the Year Award' in 2006. Duncan is known for his strong advocacy skills, and has negotiated numerous settlements with favorable terms for his clients. Duncan holds a B.A. from Strathclyde University in Scotland and an M.S. with honors from New York University. Duncan received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School where he was President of the Moot Court Honor Society and received an academic scholarship. Duncan is admitted to the bar in New York and has also passed the California bar examination.

Roderick Devlin’s legal practice focuses on US and international project finance transactions and public-private-partnership projects, with a specialization in transportation and energy transactions. Prior to commencing his practice in the US, Roddy worked at Brodies law firm in Edinburgh and taught jurisprudence at both the University of Edinburgh and the University of Strathclyde Law Schools. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School, the University of Edinburgh Law School and the University of Aberdeen Law School. Roddy has published numerous articles on project and infrastructure finance.

David received a B.A.degree in Anthropology and Religious Studies from Connecticut College, where he was a founding member of Campus Action for Social Equality and Justice (CASE-J). He earned his J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he was elected Symposium Editor of the Cardozo Public Law, Policy and Ethics Journal. While in law school, he interned with the Legal Aid Society of New York.
David is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of New York, and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
A native of New York City, he has competed internationally in the Scottish Highland Games.

Pete Reid is an honors graduate of the University Of Edinburgh School Of Law. He was also selected for a one year international scholarship at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas.
Following law school, Mr. Reid gained extensive experience working with The Texas Legislative Council, The Scottish Parliament, as a mediator with the charity "Children in Scotland", and in commercial litigation with the Australian law firm of Blake, Dawson and Waldron.
Pete Reid is a litigator with Adam Leitman Bailey PC specializing in trial work and real estate litigation, which primarily includes commercial and title litigation, property and lease disputes as well as representing and defending newly constructed buildings and condominiums.
Mr. Reid is admitted to the New York State Bar, the Texas State Bar, the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, and the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and he is a former President of the Scottish Bar Association of New York.

A graduate of the University of Glasgow, the University of Oxford and Harvard Law School, Paul Hughes is an associate in Davis Polk & Wardwell's litigation department. He was born and raised in Lanark, Scotland. Prior to commencing practice in the US, Paul worked as a Foreign Law Clerk with the Supreme Court of Israel. He joined ScotBarNY in 2009 and is happy to answer questions from students or recent graduates.
